A Platform for Frogtek

At the end of 2009 we designed and implemented a backend for Frogtek, a social enterprise that develops mobile solutions for vendors at the bottom of the pyramid. The Frogtek phone software acts as a cash register or "point-of-sale", but also as a educational tool. The role of the web-based backend is to provide solid backups, more advanced analysis and advice, and to aggregate valuable market data.
Frogtek was recently accepted as entrant in the BBVA Open Talent competition. If you like the idea give them a vote; I think they deserve it!

At BeAChange 2009

Last weekend Lokkilok participated in BeAChange 2009, in Espoo (which is not yet Helsinki). Only could make it on Sunday but it was well worth the effort.
BeAChange is an event to raise interest in Social Entrepreneurship. During the event small teams are formed around ideas for new social enterprises and then set out to develop the idea guided both by facilitators, as well as by occasional discussions with a Jury.
At Sunday morning me and the other newcomers were briefed on the 5 ideas and teams and were encouraged to go and check them out and then join one. Out of those 5 there was one idea around an internet business, so that seemed to be the idea where I could most likely be of help.

Lokkilok was in the Slush

This week Lokkilok volunteered at Slush. On Monday got plenty of physical exercise, as a couple of foreign (TAIK) students and myself built lounges, lecture halls, workshop places, etc. into the enormous Merikaapeli hall. The students had made a nice design, with ordinary pallets as the main theme. I think the final result was very nice, and well the effort.
